Senior Spotlight - Mellow Mia

This sweet girl was adopted out of a local shelter 13 years ago when she was a baby. The shelters (and rescues) hope they are going in to loving forever homes, but that doesn't always happen. And, it didn't happen in her case.

Thirteen years later, she showed up as a stray in the same shelter. Her microchip was traced and the adopter was called. They said she'd "disappeared" the first year. Initially they said they'd come and get her, but then changed their minds.

Mia was put up for adoption again, and was adopted with another one of the older cats. But it was not a good match with the owner who didn't give Mia the patience she needed. She was returned again.

Luckily for Mia, one of the Animal Control Officers remembered Mia as a kitten (amazing, given the number of animals they deal with, but this ACO is pretty amazing) and took a special interest in her - especially since things hadn't gone well for Mia.

We've worked with this shelter and ACO over the years, and she reached out privately to see if there was anything we could do. We said yes and put out plea a for a foster home. Mia hit the jackpot with Katie as her foster mom, and it's about time her lucked changed. Katie has given Mia the patience and kindness that she needed to relax and know she was safe and loved and to let her true personality come out. And, although Katie loves Mia, she feels (and we agree) that Mia really deserves to have her very own person all to herself to love and be loved by.

If you are, or know, someone who is an experienced cat person with a quiet house and peaceful vibe, please take a look at Mia. She's waiting for you.
